TheEuropean Freight & Logistics Leaders Forum -F&L- was founded in 1994 as a non-profit organisation. It consists of a club of 80 European companies that use, develop and organise multimodal freight transport in Europe. Its aim is to help towards creating a multimodal system that competitively integrates different transport modes in order to reduce the CO2 emissions.
F&L has been analysing and researching possible solutions to improve the efficiency of the logistics system for the European industry. They have agreed upon driving sustainable growth, yet supporting the implementation of comodality driven by the European Commission. F&L currently collaborates alongside DG TREN to promote e-freight as a way to improve the management of the transport capacity available in the market.
As the main promoter of the Project NEW OPERA, F&L have managed to obtain funding from the EU to develop the project. This project aims to build a 15,000 km railway net dedicated exclusively for the transport of cargo. Said Project is due to be finished in July of this year and its final conference to present results will take place on 30th September in Brussels.
